01_ MAEDA OLIVE FARM

From abandoned farmland to delicious olives.

Jun Maeda and his wife Naoko

He himself reclaimed abandoned farmland in Nakano, Miyazu City,

Since 2020, they have been managing an olive grove with a panoramic view of Amanohashidate.

From one olive to the next.

A cycle of olive groves

The interview took place in December, which is the time when olive trees "hibernate."

They were busy pruning the olive trees drastically in preparation for the following spring.

The pruned branches and leaves are then finely crushed and turned into leaf mold.

Apparently, it can be used as fertilizer for olive trees.

At MAEDA OLIVE FARM, resources are recycled, and farming practices are carried out without waste.

Farming with a focus on pesticide-free methods

MAEDA OLIVE FARM cultivates its olives using organic farming methods.

Apparently, growing olives without pesticides is extremely difficult, given the many natural enemies they have.

You can feel Ms. Maeda's passion for working with olives.

I wonder what kind of exciting things will happen here next.

Maeda's challenges are not limited to olive cultivation.

Brewing coffee in a small cabin he built himself, guiding people through the history of this region,

We also hold events where everyone can gather.

If something looks interesting, try it yourself first.

Maeda's lighthearted passion,

I think this farm, and the olives, are what make them special.

From MAEDA OLIVE FARM products,

You can feel the wind of Miyazu and Amanohashidate, and the energy of Ms. Maeda.

(Right) "Mubenari Field" is named after the word "Mubenari," used by Kaibara Ekiken, a Confucian scholar of the Edo period, to praise the scenery of Amanohashidate.

Kaihara, upon seeing the view of Amanohashidate from Nariai-ji Temple in what is now Miyazu City, commented, "The scenery is beyond words; it is certainly worthy of being considered one of Japan's three most scenic views."

There's a spot behind the farm where you could once enjoy the view, and they apparently offer guided tours to that location as well.

Editor's Note: Freshly squeezed "fruit juice" itself

The extra virgin olive oil made by MAEDA OLIVE FARM is

The moment I opened the lid, the vibrant aroma of olives filled the air, making it truly taste like freshly squeezed juice.

This product is truly a best buy, as the flavor spreads wonderfully just by spreading it directly on bread (it also pairs perfectly with Tango Kinushio's silk salt!).

Please try our olive products, which embody Ms. Maeda's unwavering passion and exude a powerful vitality!
